I Admire the Dandelions

I admire the dandelions,
and how they refuse to go away.
I admire how their seeds fly without fear
wherever the wind might take them.

I want to sprout up without warning
become a crown for children playing in the fields.
Let me carry their wishes, bring them with me
as I fly away to new lands.

I want to claim the spring and summer.
Let the critics shake their heads as I remain unweedable.
The life I weave, does not owe them predictability
nor does it owe them a new dawn

upon the horizon. If I die,
let my tale be true to me
even if, it gets labeled as unwanted
never allowed to be cherished in a garden.
Let my true beauty go beyond a curated patch,

and catch the eyes of the pure,
fill the stomachs of the desperate. Save them.
Let me give hope when it is needed most.
