once in a crammed jungle of brick and stone and concrete
i relish the openness of the blue waters in front of me.
the colors of the sky are so intense: orange, pink, blue, red,
and we are glad the sun paints this for us right before bed.
dangerous howling cuts through the black night, but as we turn a blind eye to chafe,
the sun sets, and we know that we will keep each other safe.
the sun’s children emerge in her absence, twinkling in billions and creating fire in the sky.
when i go back to the unsorry streets and harsh manufactured light, i won't see the stars and i'll have to say bye
but the fleeting moments of the unfiltered natural world will follow me home,
and like the stars, although i can't see them, they will always be there and change every bone.
